"Lids mixed-media"
Challenge "AQUARIUM" Cuckoo! Forum on Mixed-Media France, I offer a challenge on the lids of tin cans whose theme is "Aquarium" ... Tuna with lids, for example!
What do you think? Go ahead, it's very nice to perform and all techniques are allowed. Instead of throwing them stupidly in the trash, and you will participate in recycling and environmental protection, and you'll create unique art objects!
Here my tutorial (filed) to use the medium of cans:
OPERCULA MIXED-MEDIA TUTORIAL Material:
- the lids of cans
-
dishwashing liquid - a big cloth
-
a hammer - wood glue or varnish-glue
- kitchen paper, tissue paper, newsprint or toilet paper
- Gesso
- gel medium for tansfert (if pictures)
- of images to be transferred
- buffers, inks, embossing powders
- acrylic paint, gouache or watercolor
- ribbons and embellishments.
STEP 1 - Carefully remove your lids of canned whole and wash under running water with detergent.
- Wrap the lid of a large cloth and slowly turn the small round tip for it stands above all and form a fastener.
- Put everything in a stable (the best thing on the floor) and beat them to properly flatten the whole.
STEP 2 - Tear hand wide bands of about 1 cm in the kitchen paper, facial paper, newsprint or toilet paper. Split thickness if you want a more bottom end.
- Spread the cover and back reco glue thick wood and glue the strips to progressively without too much pressure on it to keep the relief kitchen paper.
- Continue until the edges are no longer sharp.
- Let dry overnight.
STEP 3 - The next day when it is dry, brush at Gesso to have a white background to work.
- Paste your image transfers (small sizes, depending on the size of your cap) using the gel medium.
- Let dry for an hour and gently peel the top layer to keep only the image.
- Take your paints, chalks, watercolors and inks to embellish the whole.
- Think to buffer the edges for a job well done.
- Finally, finally, garnish the attachment of a ribbon turned around (to paste the pieces back together with tape to keep it well).
- And hang freely ribbons or charms that you want to finish.
- Garnish the sides with thick paper cut beforehand with your template and consists (in slightly smaller) with your signature.
And voila! You just created something magnificent from nothing and you participated in, thanks to recycling, protecting the planet ...
